At Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, we provide excellent hospital care. Our physician’s primary role is to provide comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients. These physicians also known as called hospitalists, assist patients through the continuum of hospital care, often seeing patients in the emergency department and, if admitted, following them into the acute care or critical care unit and organizing post-hospital care.

Hospitalists are internal medicine board-certified and do not practice medicine outside of the hospital. Rather they choose to manage the care of hospital inpatients, including those in the intensive care unit. Hospitalists host a range of responsibilities including daily patient monitoring and ordering tests and procedures, to following up on treatment and coordinating care between the hospital, primary care physicians and specialists. Hospitalists also consult with patients and other physicians’ pre and post-surgery, creating a safe and proven effective healing environment for our patients.

Our health care professionals are among the most experienced in the behavioral health field, trained in emergency specialty procedures and crisis intervention. Committed to excellence, our staff provides the highest caliber of quality care by interacting with patients therapeutically and evaluating overall health and symptoms.

We treat acute psychiatric illnesses including, major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Admissions to the Behavioral Health Unit can be on voluntary or non-voluntary conditions.  We welcome inquiries for those who are concerned about the welfare of family members or those already receiving or in need of treatment for any psychological disorder.

Patient services include assessment of emotional and psychological issues, initial health screening, case management, medication management, treatment planning, community integration planning, and referrals. Outside referrals from health care providers and insurance plans are welcomed.

What conditions does the department treat?
Patients are admitted to the Critical Care Unit from a number of sources including the emergency department, the operating department or hospital ward.  They come with a range of conditions including sepsis, acute kidney injury, cardiac arrest or respiratory failure.

Pacifica offers an extensive range of Short-Stay Nursing Services, including medical attention, medication, housing, meals, and laundry, help with personal essentials such as dressing, bathing, and using the lavatory as well as other support services. Recovery from severe illness or injury often requires intense physical, occupational and speech therapy. When patients are discharged from the hospital, they have the option to continue inpatient rehabilitation services with us or we can direct them to a long-term care facility to continue the intense level of therapy.

The Subacute and Skilled Nursing Unit (89 beds) is designed to help patients achieve the highest possible level of independence. The patients on this unit have met the acute care criteria for discharge, but are still in need of additional assistance, and transfer to the Sub Acute Unit to receive additional rehabilitation to enable them to return to their prior living situation. We offer comprehensive medical care that serves patients recuperating from surgery, strokes, broken limbs, persistent sores and other conditions once treated solely in hospitals.
